Urban Airport
In
the expanding geography of social and professional networks, airports
are the most important nodes in the global flow of people. In a world
where all kinds of mobility and connectivity is increasing, the
cultural significance of the airport has become apparent. Every year,
1.5 billion passengers, or a quarter of the world´s population, move
through airports.
But instead of building new cities around the airport, it could be considered as a decentralized element within the traditional city. As a tube-in-tube system, the passenger cabin travels on railcars to gather passengers within the city center in compliance with security regulations. On the runway the cabin is reloaded in cargo planes. Without leaving their seat, passengers can travel conveniently, quickly and directly from city center to city center.
